Asaba Specialist Hospital Gets First Helium-Free MRI Scanner

Great hope for Deltans as the very first helium-free Siemens 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is now accessible to patients in Delta State, marking a significant milestone.

This announcement was made by Chief Medical Director, Dr. Peace Ighosewe, at Asaba Specialist Hospital. The helium-free MRI system offers advanced imaging capabilities with less maintenance than conventional MRI machines, which makes it more efficient and environmentally sustainable.

The process will also reduce the rate at which patients travel outside Delta for an MRI examination. Furthermore, the facility will be providing free MRI scans to patients for two days to mark the commencement of the service, with more than 10 people benefiting from the initiative.
