Young Girl Rescued After Months in Côte d’Ivoire

The fight against human trafficking continues, with many young girls being moved across the western African border with promises of greener pastures, only to be abandoned and left to become sex workers.

This was the case for 19-year-old Delta State indigene, identified as Annabel, who was lured to French-speaking Côte d’Ivoire under the guise of getting a good job but was abandoned in Ivory Coast.

The outcry from many, along with the efforts of Hon. Stella Okotete, facilitated Annabel’s safe return to Delta State after several months.

The dangers of human trafficking and the need for stronger public awareness call for action to protect vulnerable young girls who are targets of these criminal networks.
