Give us Turbine, Chevron Ready to Power says Olero Creek Communities

…As They Agree on Temporary Measures

 

The people of Olero creek communities in Warri North local government area, have called on Delta state government to provide the turbine promised them by the former Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, in order to tackle the issue of non-availability of power supply facing their communities over the years.

Chairman Olero Creek Communities, Rolland Ukuesan, amongst other Community leaders and stakeholders of the Olero Creek Communities, during a meeting with the Commissioner for Power and Energy, Sunday Tataobuzogwu, and Commissioner for Water Resources Development, Isaac Wilkie, in Asaba the state capital, noted the urgency of the situation thereby, suggesting various possible solutions.

The community leaders representing Udo, Ajamita, Tebu Gbokoda, Jakpa, Ebrohimi and Obaghoro communities, who took turns to speak and brain storm with the Commissioners on how to tackle the problem, agreed that 250KVA generators be given to each of the seven communities to temporarilyy manage the situation prior to when a lasting solution is provided by state government.

Commissioner for Power and Energy, Sunday Tataobuzogwu, disclosed that the areas had already been considered and captured in the 2025 budget, as he proposed the temporary measures which the community leaders keyed into adding that consultations will be made.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Water Resources Development, Isaac Wilkie, who was applauded for his swift response in getting his counterpart to the meeting, appealed to the people to remain patient as they meet with the Governor. Promising to give them feedbacks in no time.
