Teacher Arrested For Blinding Primary 6 Pupil Eye In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Miss Adeola A. Adeyemo, a trainee teacher at Owiwi Nursery and Primary School in the Obada Oko area of the state, after her pupil went blind from a cane injury in class.
Adeyemo, who is a 400-level student at Tai Solarin University, Ijebu Ode, was undergoing her teaching practice at the primary school when, on December 2, her 11-year-old pupil, Alao Idera, ran into the cane she was using to discipline the class.
The unfortunate incident led to serious damage to the primary 6 pupil, who was subsequently removed by surgery at the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta. The family reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of the teacher.
According to the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, S he stated that during interrogation, the teacher only held the cane to address the pupils for the forthcoming Christmas party. Upon hearing what had happened to little Idera, Adeyemo attempted to drink a poisonous substance but was rushed to the clinic for medical attention and is currently in stable condition.
