President Ruto Speaks After Kenya Protest

Following days of protest in Kenya over taxation and the high economy in the country, the protest on Tuesday took a new wave as five persons were reported shot dead and hundreds injured.

What started as a dissatisfaction of opinion in social media has turned into various bursts across the Nation’s towns and streets, which has also led angry Kenyans to burn the city hall, office of the governor, and the parliamentary house all located in Nairobi.

However, in a swift shift, the President of the country, William Ruto, said the protest which was against his policies was hijacked by organised criminals but it should be noted that his government would not tolerate such and every means to prevent such violence will be put in place.

In President Ruto’s words, “Tuesday events mark a critical point on how we respond to threats to our peace.”

“We will ensure a situation of this nature does not recur again,” end of quote.

The supposed bill causing outrage is due to become a law by Monday next week with high taxes on car owners, financial transactions, sanitary pads, healthcare and others.

However, some of the taxes have been dropped after consultation with the public.
