Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, on Wednesday presiding over the plenary, has sworn in Amos Yohanna as the new Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District.

Yohanna, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party replaced Abbo, who was sacked by the Appeal Court last week Monday.

INEC had declared Elisha Abbo of the APC as the winner of the February 25 election but Yohanna headed to court to challenge the result.

The three-member panel presided over by Justice C.E. Nwosu-Iheme on Monday ordered INEC to issue a Certificate of Return to Yohanna as a duly elected lawmaker for the National Assembly.

Abbo in reaction to the appeal’s judgement alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio was behind his removal from the Senate.

A few hours later Abbo apologized to senate president Akpabio who had earlier denied the allegation levelled against him by the sacked senator.
