Two sisters, Juliet Chukwu and Ngozi Nancy Chukwu, from Amaeze village in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, have been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command for masterminding the kidnapping of various victims.
Juliet Chukwu works at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), while Ngozi is with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). They were nabbed by police in a hotel where they were sharing a N30 million ransom collected from the abduction of their elder brother, Mr. Friday Chukwu.
In June, along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway near the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla, in Nkanu West Local Government Area, Mr. Friday Chukwu was kidnapped, and a ransom of N30 million was demanded and paid to the abductors.
With information, police tracked the suspects to the hotel, but four others believed to be members of the syndicate group are at large.
Further investigation reportedly linked Juliet and Ngozi to the recent kidnapping that happened around the same UNTH vicinity early this week involving one Engineer Dennis Igwe, the General Manager of China Oriental Mining Company, for whom N10 million was paid for his release.
The fleeing suspects and others linked to the syndicate group are being searched for, with the investigation ongoing.
