Rev. Father Killed By Unknown Gunmen

The remains of Rev. Fr Charles O. Ighechi, a priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin, was found on the street of Ikpoba Hill in Benin City, Edo State.

The priest was shot dead by gunmen on Wednesday along Agbor Road in the Ikhueniro axis of Benin.

According to a statement on Thursday by the Catholic Archbishop of Benin, Augustine Akubeze the father ordained last year before he was ambushed and shot on his way back to his place of assignment.

Akubeze said police have been informed and the needful should be done in apprehending the perpetrators of this evil.

The Mass burial of the priest is slated for today, June 9, 2023, at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre’s Chapel.
