Green House Stands With Tinubu On Borrowing — Speaker Abbas Tajudeen

‎The House of Representatives strongly stands with President Bola Tinubu on the grounds of borrowing, as the vision of the President is to amiably use the borrowed finances as a catalyst for growth and poverty reduction.

‎This statement was made on Monday by the Speaker of the Green House, Abbas Tajudeen, at the 8th Annual African Network of Parliamentary Budget Offices conference. He stated that the Chamber is fully in support of Tinubu’s borrowing, contrary to reports that the House stands in opposition.

‎Tajudeen said the speech delivered by the House Leader at the West African Parliamentary Conference was taken out of context, just to create an atmosphere of mischief and mislead the public.

He explained that, like every modern economy, Nigeria must occasionally rely on credit to finance critical infrastructure, boost growth, and shield vulnerable citizens. The 10th House and the National Assembly have stood their ground on borrowing, as it is an essential tool for a nation, as long as it is transparent.

‎However, he cautioned that borrowing alone was not enough; rather, fighting corruption and illicit financial flows must work side by side for good debt management.
