Pain and fear passed through the spine of passengers at the Port Harcourt International Airport as ValueJet, CRJ 900 Bombardier aircraft skidded off the runway.
The aircraft had 62 passengers and five crew members, with registration 5N-BXR, slipped off the runway while trying to land.
With no damages done to the aircraft, it landed safely leaving passengers worried over the unusual occurrence.
However, Managing Director of ValueJet, Capt. Dapo Majekodunmi in a statement said Captain Stanley Balami reported that the slip was a result of algae on the taxiway, preventing the aircraft from maintaining the centerline.
He further assured the general public of ValueJet’s commitment to safety and all operations of the airline remain normal without any disruptions.
