National Grid Not Shut Down – TCN

Following the nationwide strike by organised labour and the shutting down of the national grid by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, a new development has been made by the power sector.
Earlier today, the spokesperson of the TCN, Ndidi Mbah confirmed to Daily Post that electricity workers shut down the national grid in compliance with NLC and TUC order for an indefinite strike.
However, in a twist a few hours later, a statement from TCN’s management said the national grid is supplying electricity to distribution centres in bulk.
“We hereby note that the nation’s grid is intact and supplying bulk electricity to distribution load centres nationwide.
“As of when issuing this statement, the TCN National Control Centre Osogbo, which controls bulk power transmission nationwide, is actively operational.
“We would appreciate that reports are made with a sense of responsibility, not just to cause panic,” it stated.
With part of the Federal Capital Territory electricity supplied, other parts of the states are still in darkness at the time of reporting.
