The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released Samuel Ortom, former governor of Benue State.

Ortom was released on Tuesday night after several hours of interrogation at the zonal office of the EFCC in Makurdi, the state capital.

Reacting to the former governor’s interrogation with EFCC,  Benue PDP insisted Ortom is not the first former governor to be grilled but that his case is “remarkably different for the lack of rancour which usually attends such appearances.

The party in a statement said they were satisfied that the former governor’s conduct is a clear reflection of him having no skeletons in his cupboard.

Meanwhile, the Benue state house of assembly has set up an ad hoc committee to investigate the income and expenditures of the 23 LGAs of the state.

The committee was constituted by Aondona Dajoh, speaker of the state assembly, following a request by Hyacinth Alia the governor of the state.
