Delta Police Arrests 211 Suspects, Recover 8.5million Ransom

The Delta State Police Command says it has arrested 211 suspects, recovered 8.5 million naira ransom, 18 firearms, and 359 rounds of ammunition in the month of July.
The state Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, who disclosed this during a monthly press briefing in Asaba the state capital, said operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, carried out multiple operations across the state, leading to the neutralization of several criminals and the dismantling of dangerous gangs.
Abaniwonda noted that the command’s achievements were a result of proactive, intelligence-driven, and community-oriented policing strategies aimed at making the state unsafe for criminals where he recounted one of the major operations that occurred on the 30th of July where two suspected kidnappers were neutralised during a gun battle in Ogwashi-Ukwu Forest.
The police commissioner disclosed that the police recovered one AK-47 rifle, 39 rounds of live ammunition, and ₦3.5 million in suspected ransom money in the process.
Abaniwonda who recounted a number of successful cases achieved in the month under review, urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police, advising parents and Deltans generally to be vigilante on the activities happening within and around them.
