Delta monarch’s palace set ablaze

In the early hours of Tuesday, some yet to be identified persons have set ablaze the Osuivie of Agbarho kingdom in Ughelli North on fire burning down the main hall, guest house, a staff quarter housing NYSC members and the window of the king’s apartment.

Attempts were also made to set the car of Osuivie ablaze with petrol poured in the compound. Mr Friday Sabulefe, the palace guard said three men broke into the palace, threatened and held him down at gunpoint.

However while the president General of Agbarho-Urhobo Improvement Union, Chief Monday Igho-Odiphri was reacting to the incident, he told journalist that it was the handiwork of those whose intent is to sabotage and embarrass the kingdom, and will not escape the law.

Chief Monday said after receiving call that the palace was on fire, security men were mobilised to extinguish the fire and to inspect damage and the escape route of the perpetrators. He is grateful that no life was lost during the incident.
