In a notice filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, April 22, 2024, the commission is seeking a withdrawal from the appeal against the ex-governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello.

The anti-graft agency noted that the withdrawal was based on the judgement delivered by the Kogi State High Court refraining the agency from arresting Yahaya Bello.

Counsel of the EFCC, J.S. Okutepa (SAN), in a signed notice, said the withdrawal was necessary since other events have taken over the appeal and it was filed out of the time allowed by law.

Recall that there has been a rancour over Bello’s arrest following the conflicting judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja and the Kogi State High Court, which the EFCC went ahead to lay a siege at the residence of Bello.
