Police Arrest Ugandan Uncles For Flogging Teenager 100 Strokes Of Cane

Police in Uganda have arrested seven family members at the Kadama Sub County for flogging their teenage Muslim niece with over 100 strokes of cane for attending church services after several rebukes from the family.

18-year-old Shakira Naula’s video went viral on various social media platforms where two of her uncles held her down while the others lashed her for attending prayers at Kadama Prayer Convention.

Following the outrage of Ugandans, Pastor Nicholas Kitibwa, launched a complaint of assault at the Kibuku Police Station against Yusuf Nantege, 28, Mohammed Wapesa, 24, Jaberi Lumas, 25, Uthuman Koosi, 25, Issa Wasereye, 24, Ziyadi Musenero 29.

According to the spokesperson of North Bukedi Regional Police, SP Samuel Semewo the suspects have all been arrested and will soon be charged in court.

He said Naula’s mother left her with her uncles for domestic work in Saudi Arabia and the young girl has been warned severally by her uncles not to attend the church.

On that fateful day, she went for a vigil, in the morning they stormed the church to take her home but the pastor refused that Naula was leading the praise and worship section.

After returning from the service they pounced on her, each giving her 5-10 strokes of the cane
