Police Foiled Kidnap Attack in Ughelli

An attempted kidnapping of a pastor and retired school principal in Ughelli has been foiled by the police, who arrested the culprits and recovered a single-barrel gun with two live cartridges.

On July 31, 2026, credible information indicated that one Jeremiah Kwane, a 26-year-old, attempted to recruit another individual to kidnap a pastor, which led operatives of ‘A’ Division, Ughelli, to storm Jeremiah’s workplace.

It was during a search of Jeremiah that the gun and cartridges were found. He is currently undergoing investigation, according to Delta State Police Spokesperson Bright Edafe.
