WAEC Withheld Thousands of Results Over Examination Malpractice

Over 167,486 candidates from the just concluded 2026 computer-based West African Senior Certificate Examination results have been withheld on grounds of malpractice, according to an announcement by WAEC Nigeria National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, on Wednesday.

Making the announcement in Lagos, Dangut disclosed that the percentage of mobile phones used, despite being banned, and organized cheating in schools contributed largely.

He added further that supervisors and invigilators found assisting students have been arrested and will face the necessary punishment.
