The Lokoja-Abuja highway has been currently blocked by some youths of Kogi State demanding the freedom of the former state governor, Yahaha Bello over the 80.2 billion naira fraud levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The protesting youths under the coalition of civil society for democracy, and African Youths Coalition for Justice called on the Federal government to put an end to the witch hunt of EFCC towards Bello.
Accusing the anti-graft agency of victimizing Bello, the group called for an adherence to the rule of law in addressing the case in court.
With various inscriptions on display, they cried “Nigeria is not a banana republic”, “President Tinubu, call EFCC to order”, “EFCC stop witch hunting”, “Yahaya Bello remains a responsible citizen”, “EFCC obey court order now” etc.
