Tragedy In Kano As Three Die Inside Pit Toilet

It was a sad moment for the family of the Danjuma and residents at Yar’Gwanda village, Tsanyawa LGA in Kano State when three members of their family reportedly died inside a pit toilet while trying to retrieve a cell phone.

Narrating the incident on Monday, the Public Relations Officer of Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi said an emergency call was received at their station at 11:00 am on Sunday from Aminu Yar’Gwanda that four men were trapped inside a pit toilet.

He said Malam Danjuma a 60-year-old man, Malam Danjuma, was trying to pick up his mobile phone that fell into the latrine when he suddenly fell into it.

Trying to rescue his father who has been trapped in the pit, 35-year-old Ibrahim got in and was trapped alongside.

Seeing that the father and son were still trapped inside the latrine, Aminu Gaye, 35, and Abba Alasan, 28 jumped in to rescue the men struggling for survival.

According to the fire service PPRO, at 11:15 am when the rescue team got to the scene, the first three victims were brought out unconscious while the fourth man came out alive.

Abdullahi said the victims were handed to Iro Lado the Superintendent of Police at the Tsanyawa Police Division and were taken to Bichi Specialist Hospital where doctors confirmed three dead and 28-year-old Abba Alasan alive.
