Following the outrage online that a Chinese supermarket has barred Nigerians from entering its premises, the China General Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria has reacted to the allegations.

A video went viral on Sunday that the Chinese supermarket at the Royal Choice Estate, Airport Road, Abuja, has denied Nigerians from buying groceries from the supermarket which raised concern among citizens of the country.

An official statement has now been released by the Chamber in reaction to the incident, that the Royal Estate is not a supermarket but a residential area with an office complex.

The statement said the China Chamber of Commerce is inside the Estate as well as the supermarket also at the residential part of the facility and residents comply with the estate rules in granting access to visitors.

It stated further that there was no form of discrimination or denial to any individual and the misinformation might have started from the gate between security personnel and a customer.

Distancing the Chamber of Commerce and the estate management from the incident, they treat all with equality and respect.

However, the Federal Competition and Consumer and Protection Commission (FCCPC) shut down the supermarket after interrogating workers, which have received applause from Nigerians
