The Joint Admission and Matriculation Exams, JAMB which commenced its 2024 UTME on Friday 19, has faced criticism from Nigerians over the early schedule timing of over 1.9 million candidates sitting for the examination.

Candidates seeking admission into Nigeria tertiary institutes are to report to their Computer Based Centers, CBT at 7 a.m. raising concerns for students whose residents are miles away from their supposed venue.

Concerned Nigerians have called on the board to look into the timing that is split into three batches, 7:am, 10:am, and noon as candidates from very far distances may miss their exams, therefore the 7:am exam should be rescheduled.

However, after the commencement of JAMB on Friday, the spokesperson of the board Fabian Benjamin told a national daily on Sunday that the examination doesn’t start at precisely 7 a.m.

He was quoted saying that 7:am gives students the time to relax and get familiarised with the CBT before the commencement of the exam.

It will be recalled that some of the candidates had issues at some centres on Friday and the examination body has pledged a rescheduling of exams for such candidates.
