CNG Buses And Tricycles To Hit Nigeria May 29 – Onaguga

In preparation for the first year in office under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the first batch of Compressed Natural Gas, CNG vehicles would be unveiled.

The initiative which was launched by the administration last year October to help mitigate the effects of the subsidy removal and to provide cheap, safe friendly transportation will be delivered on May 29.

Disclosing this information on Sunday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information, said the Nigerian transportation sector is now ready to transition into natural gas as 2,700 CNG buses and tricycles will hit the nation’s roads soonest.

He further stated that $50 million has been invested by private sectors towards CNG refuelling stations, conversion centres as well as mother stations across Nigeria.

The special adviser on information and strategy said the initiative by President Tinubu came to life from tax and duty waivers approved in December 2023.
