The conflicting judgement of a High Court in Kogi and the Federal High Court in Abuja regarding the arrest of former governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on money laundering to the tune of N80.2 billion would commence today.

An order was given by Justice Isa Abdullahi at Kogi High Court restraining the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from prosecuting Bello while another order from Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, ordered EFCC to go after Bello.

With the order from the Federal High Court, Abuja, the EFCC went ahead to arrest Bello, that the lower court’s judgement could not be used as an escape route for Bello.

However, some chieftains of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, are calling on present and past governors, and politicians to help Bello in resisting the unruling arrest by EFCC.

Speaking on behalf of the APC party leader, the chairman of Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG), Barrister Jesutega Onokpasa, described the ex-governor’s prosecution in the court of public opinion as against the court of law.

While a group known as the Ebiraland Youths Coalition are calling on the Federal Government to ensure that nothing happens to Bello.
