Yahoo Boys Reason for Visa Restrictions — EFCC

Internet fraudsters, aka yahoo boys, have been labeled as the ones causing visa restrictions for Nigerians who seek to travel for greener pastures.
Recently, some Western nations have placed stricter restrictions on Nigerians who seek visas for studies, vacations, or even relocation. This has prompted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to warn against the increasing rate of fraudsters and money launderers, stating that their activities give a bad reputation to the nation and its citizens.
Speaking at an event in Port Harcourt organized by the Coalition of Nigerian Youth on Security and Safety Affairs, the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, who was represented by the Chief Superintendent of the EFCC, CSE Coker Oyegunle, revealed in a statement that internet fraud and similar activities destroy the economy, growth, infrastructure, and even job opportunities.
He therefore urged young people in the South-South and across Nigeria to channel their energy into productive ventures such as digital innovation, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and the creative industry, as Internet money seems faster to obtain; however, that is how the consequences surrounding it can attack one more quickly.
