Importers, distributors, and retailers have been advised to prevent the importation of a particular brand of Nivea Roll-on deodorant, causing health hazards to its users, which was produced in Germany with bar code 42299882.

The attention of the public was drawn by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, towards a specific batch of 50ml Nivea Black & White Invisible 48-hour Roll-on.

The agency, in a notice released on Thursday, said the product with batch number 93529610 is not suitable for the African climate after a warning was given by the European Union Rapid Alert System for Dangerous non-food products in Brussels.

The Nivea product which has been recalled from the market contains 2-(4-tert-Butylbenzyl)
propionaldehyde, a chemical prohibited in cosmetic production due to causing skin irritation and burns, harm to the reproductive system, and impairing the health of an unborn child.
