Post created on 1:25 pm
A great feat has been achieved by the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, giving hope to sickle cell patients after a bone marrow transplant was successfully conducted on two patients with sickle cell disease.
The patients, one pediatrician, and an adult were admitted into the Sickle Cell Foundation, Marrow Transplant Center in Lagos, where the procedure was conducted, making a historic turnaround for Nigeria in the West Africa region.
Currently, the patients have been discharged and are under observation, while no less than 127 others await their turnaround from the Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria, SCFN, in collaboration with LUTH.
