VOA, BBC Suspended From Broadcasting In Burkina Faso Over Malicious Report

A report was made by the BBC and VOA an American news agency few weeks back that hundreds of citizens were killed by military men in Burkina Faso for refusing to give information on Jihadist activities in the northern region of the nation.

It was reported by the African BBC and VOA that 223 citizens amongst whom 56 children were killed in two villages in February.

Following the news published online by BBC and VOA agencies operating in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, they were suspended by the Ibrahim Traoré-led military government late Thursday night.

Making the suspension known, spokeswoman of the Burkina Faso communication, Tonssira Myrian Corine Sanou, warned other media houses in the country to stop reporting the story.

Also, the international organisations Human Rights Watch, HRW, VOA, and BBC Internet connection to their website has been suspended for two weeks over the malicious claims without confirmation from the Burkinabes.
