UEFA to strip Russia of Champions League Final

This season’s champions League might be stripped off Russia after president Vladimir Putin order troops into two rebel-held region in eastern Ukraine after recognizing them as independent states.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and London Mayor Sadiq have both called for Russia to be denied the right to host a major final.

UEFA says they are constantly monitoring the situation and decisions will be made in due course.

While Major of London Khan said, London is the sporting capital of the world and stand ready to host the final. It’s clear staging it in Russia is now untenable, the Mayor said.

Wembley is currently set to hold the League Two and Championship playoff finals on May 28 and 29 respectively.
