26-year-old women’s 100m hurdles world record holder, Tobi Amusan has been charged by the Athletic Integrity Unit (AIU) for missing her doping tests.
According to AIU rules any athlete that misses tests within one year is guilty of anti-doping rule violation, therefore a two-year suspension will be slammed the athlete but can be reduced to one year when the options for missing the tests are weighed.
Amusan reacting to the AIU charge on her Instagram page, vowed to challenge the allegations knowing herself as a clean athlete.
The Nigerian athlete today Wednesday said AIU has made claims of her violating its rules by missing three tests in 12 months.
Amusan said she was tested within days of her third alleged missed test and she wishes to fight the charge against her by a tribunal of three arbitrators who will decide her case before the start of next month’s World Championships.
She said her faith is strong that things will be resolved in her favour and she will compete at the World Championships in August.
On Tuesday Amusan hit 12.25 seconds to win the women’s 100m hurdles at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial in Hungary.
