President Bola Tinubu has ordered the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to investigate the stray bullet that killed two-year-old Ivan Onose Omhonrina, at Okpanam in Oshimili North, Delta State.
The president in a statement through his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, Dele Alake, said those officers that cause such tragedy on the Omhonrina must be brought to book.
A few days ago NDLEA went for a raid at a drug joint in Okpanam, where a stray bullet hit Eromonsele and Ivan who were at their mother’s shop, but little Ivan could not survive the hit.
The statement further quoted President Tinubu: “We must pray for the family and ensure that such an incident does not happen to anyone again. I am saddened by the death of young Ivan Omhonrina.
“I am praying for the quick recovery of Eromonsele who is still at the hospital. We must get to the root cause of those who inflicted this agony on the Omhonrinas and bring them to justice.”
However, before the statement of President Tinubu, the House of Representatives had urged the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, to investigate and prosecute the NDLEA officers involved in the death of the toddler.
