A reshuffling has taken place in the ministerial nominees and their various portfolios as President Bola Tinubu has appointed Engr. Abubakar Momoh as the minister for Niger Delta Development.

The change of position also came along with the change of name of the Ministry of Niger Delta Development to the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

The decision to redeploy Momoh from the Ministry of Youth to that of Niger Delta Development has left a vacuum in the former ministry.

Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, made this known in a statement released on Sunday and that President Tinubu also directed minor amendments in ministerial portfolios and reallocation of duties.

Apart from Momoh, Adegboyega Oyetola, ex-governor of Osun Governor is also redeployed as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, while Bunmi Tunji-Ojo takes over as the Minister of Interior.

Further revealing information in the statement, “(C) Hon. Sa’idu Alkali is redeployed as the Honourable Minister of Transportation

“Furthermore, both Ministers of State in the Oil & Gas sector are now domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources with the following designations:

“(i)  Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri is the Hon. Minister of State (Oil), Petroleum Resources

“(ii) Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo is the Hon. Minister of State (Gas), Petroleum Resources.”

He added, “The President approves the renaming of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management as the Federal Ministry of Environment.”
