Taliban Shut Down Beauty Salons In Afghanistan Beauty Salons

Post created on 9:36 am

The Taliban government in Afghanistan has ordered a shutdown of all women’s beauty salons in the country.

According to a decree published by Afghan Media, there was no justification provided for the decision, and the licences for the salons require to operate will expire next month.

Beauty salons have been one of the few sources of income for Afghan women, some of whom are the main earners for their families.

Taliban pledged to respect women’s rights after taking power in 2021 but since then women have been pushed out of most professional employment.

It is reported that universities and secondary schools have closed doors to women and girls except for a few private schools that still offer education beyond the primary level.
