Suspended CBN Governor Plead Not Guilty To New Count Charges

Following the amended 20 criminal charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday against suspended Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emeifele, a new turn has been made today Friday.

During the hearing at the court today Friday, Justice Hamza Mu’azu, read the 20 count charges to Emefiele but he pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Judge Hamza therefore adjourned the case to February 12 and 13, 2024.

Recall that on Thursday federal government changed the six-count charge against Emeifele to 20 counts.

The amended charge on Emefiele borders on criminal breach of trust, forgery, conspiracy to commit forgery, procurement fraud and conspiracy to commit a felony.
