Subsidy: Edo State Increases Minimum Wage To N40,000, Reduces Workdays To Thrice A Week

With the increase of pump prices across the country by the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the government of Edo State has announced an increase in the minimum wage from N30,000 to N40,000 in the state.

The state governor, Godwin Obaseki announced on Tuesday and also reduced the number of working days from five to three days in a week to cushion the effect on workers.

Obaseki said the state will stand with their workers in these very challenging times to make sure that this period does not overwhelm them.

Speaking further on the issue, the governor said his administration as a proactive government, has since taken the step to increase the minimum wage paid to workers in Edo state from the approved N30,000 to N40,000, making it the highest in the country today.
