Senegal Begins Oil Production At First Offshore Oil Project

History was made in Senegal on Tuesday, 11 June 2024, when the West African country started Production of oil and gas for the first time.
It is reported that the Deep waters of Sangomar which also has gas is to produce 100,000 barrels of oil per day.
This milestone is expected to generate billions for Senegal’s economy with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye promising to manage its profit for the nation’s benefit.
Woodside an Australian oil production company in Senegal described the event as a historic milestone as production kick-started.
Speaking to students on Tuesday, President Faye revealed that earnings from the oil and gas production would be well managed and inter-generation funds had been set up for the benefit of the people and the generation to come.
