Ahmed Ningi has written a letter through his lawyer to the Speaker of the Red Chamber to reinstate him or face legal action.

The senator representing Bauchi Central wrote the letter through his lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, demanding that if the suspension placed on him was not revoked within seven days then the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio should meet them at the Federal High Court.

Falana writes that the senator speaker cannot be the accuser,  judge, and prosecutor at the same time against someone who was expressing his freedom of speech in line with the Nigerian constitution.

According to the SAN the Senate did not only violate Ningi’s right by stripping him of salaries and allowances but also that of the Bauchi people.

Recalled that a few weeks back, Senator Ningi granted an interview to BBC Hausa where he made claims that the 2024 budget was padded to the tune of N3.7 trillion.

His allegations sparked various reactions in the upper house with senators viewing him as damaging their image.

This led to his suspension for three months and subsequently stepped down as the chairman of Northern Senators Forum.
