The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, last night declared Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress winner of the governorship election in Kogi State after the cancellation of results in some polling units.

Ododo won with 446,237 defeating Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party, who came second with 259,052 votes, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dino Melaye, came third with a score of 46,362 votes.

INEC has come under some backlash for collating the election results when there were reports of over-voting in in Kogi.

In Imo State where the election also took place on Saturday, Governor Hope Uzodimma of the APC was declared winner by INEC, while Governor Diri Douye of the PDP in Bayelsa state is leading from the result collated so far from polling units.

With results from Brass and Southern Ijaw that are yet to be collated in Bayelsa state, the collation was moved to noon later today.

Diri is leading in the Bayelsa election results as shown by the six LGA with 64,106 votes, after scoring a total of 137,909 votes.

Of the six LGAs collated by INEC Diri has won five while Timipre Sylva of the APC has won only one Nembe LGA.
