A student of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has lost his life while installing solar panels on a storey building.

The young man who was a final year student of PTI was reported to have died from electrocution on Thursday while installing solar panels close to a commercial bank at Warri Garage.

According to eyewitness reports, the aluminium ladder used by the student in climbing to install the solar panels got magnetised by the high-tension wires linking a neighbouring commercial bank and got electrocuted in the process.

It was a passerby who noticed the student’s unconscious state and used a dry plank to hit the aluminium ladder detaching it from the vibrating high-tension wires.

The student was writing his final project in school, and was immediately rushed to a private clinic but died before treatment could be administered.
