Nigerian Referee Selected For CAF Women’s Champions League

In preparation for the 2023 African Women’s Champions League on November 5 through 19 to be held at Cote D’Ivoire, Nigerian Yemisi Akintoye has been selected as referee.

Yemisi a graduate of the University of Lagos, holds a FIFA badge referee in 2021 and was shortlisted with 17 other referees across Africa.

She made the list of 12 referees selected to participate in the Champions League according to a statement released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Monday.

It says Yemisi would be officiating alongside Salma Musaganda of Rwanda who was the first African woman Referee to officiate at the men’s World Cup.

Adding to her profile, Yemisi has been featured at some international competitions like the WAFU Women Champion’s League, and the Aisha Buhari Tournament, among others.
