Protesters Storm PDP Secretariat In Port Harcourt Over LG Election

Ahead of the October 5 Local Government Election to be held in Rivers State by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RISEC, a group of persons have besieged the Peoples Democratic Party secretariat in the State capital.

Federal High court had earlier given the order to RSIEC to suspend the election, and as the date drew closer, some protesters lurked around the PDP building, causing traffic as they demanded the court orders be obeyed.

With chants of songs and placards written ‘say no tl LGA election, RSIEC must obey court judgment, SIM must obey court judgment’ was displayed on the busy highway, causing traffic.

Security operatives have been deployed to the scene to avoid a breakdown of law and order.
