President Tinubu Declares State of Emergency in Rivers State, Suspends Gov Fubara

On Tuesday evening, in a nationwide broadcast, President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, dissolving its government over a prolonged political crisis.

President Tinubu suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Mrs. Ngozi Odu, and all members of the State House of Assembly for a period of six months.

Following the suspension of the state governor, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (rtd) was appointed by Tinubu to run the affairs of the state during the six-month suspension period.
