An operation that could have caused pain to loved ones has been foiled by the Delta State Police Command after busting into a kidnapper’s hideout and recovering firearms and other items on January 11, at about 9:35 PM.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by SP Bright Edafe, Public Relations Officer, stating that the operation was carried out by the CP Special Assignment Team following credible information about a suspected criminal hideout in a bush along Upper Agbarho in Ughelli.

Upon sighting the special team, who were in collaboration with local vigilantes, the kidnappers, numbering about six, opened fire while the police team responded, causing them to flee with various injuries.

Items recovered from the scene include a bowl of soaked garri with three spoons, nylons of groundnuts, a nylon of garri, sachets of alcoholic drinks, matches and lighters, one FNC rifle loaded with one round of live ammunition, and one pump-action gun with thirty-two rounds of live cartridges.

A manhunt has been launched to arrest the fleeing suspects, and the exhibits recovered have been taken into custody.
