Protesters have stormed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Abuja, demanding the redeployment of Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola as Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner over fears of favoritism in the state’s upcoming election.

The protesters waving banners with various inscriptions that what played out in Edo State will not be repeated in Ondo State. Despite having no issues with Mrs Babalola, the state refuses to take chances.

This follows a call made a few days ago by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State that the REC has a relationship with the ruling All Progressive Congress and for a free and fair election to be upheld in Ondo State, Mrs. Babalola should be redeployed for the interest of the state.

INEC National Commissioner, Major General Modibbo Alkali (retd), assured the protesters that their demands would be considered by the Commission and also commended their act of orderliness during the protest.
