Oborewvori Unveils Newly Acquired, Refurbished Operational Vehicles

…Inaugurates DESTMA Intelligent, Provost Units

In a bid to strengthen traffic management and mobility in the state, the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has unveiled some newly purchased and refurbished operational vehicles for the Delta State Traffic Management Authority, DESTMA.

Oborevwori who carried out the gesture through the Commissioner of Transport, Onoriode Agofure, commended the efforts of the Chairman, the Director General, and the DESTMA officers as he urged them to remain united in building a transport sector that is efficient, safe, and truly responsive to the needs of the people as he also inaugurated the Intelligent and Provost Unit of DESTMA.

He said the vehicles will strengthen operations, improve field mobility, and enable better service delivery as it will also boost efficient and enhanced service delivery in the transport sector across the state.

The Director General, DESTMA, Benjamin Okiemute, in his welcome address, lauded the Governor for his unwavering support and vision for a safer and more orderly state as he highlighted several changes introduced to revitalize and reposition the agency as a model Traffic Management Authority in Nigeria geared towards the MORE Agenda policy.

Okiemute, however, appealed to the state Governor for additional manpower to enable the agency expand its operations to meet the demands across the state as he noted that the acquisition of the newly refurbished vehicles is a significant step to enhancing operational capacity, and to ensure that officers are well equipped to manage traffic efficiently and respond to emergencies with speed.

Also, Chairman of the Authority, Peter Idion, commended the state Governor whom he described as “ talk and do,” for his visionary and transformative leadership and continued support of DESTMA in the cause of public safety.

He also commended the Director General, management team, and officers of DESTMA for their hard work, discipline, and commitment to service.
