NLC Suspends Nationwide Planned Strike

The supposed nationwide strike proposed by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, slated for Wednesday was cancelled on Monday night after a meeting held with its leaders and representatives of the federal government.
This development was announced by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and confirmed by the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, after a six-hour meeting between the FG and the organised labour at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
At the meeting on Monday night, both parties concluded that NLC suspends the strike in other for them to make some consultations.
TUC and the NLC will further continue to engage the federal government and get a substantial closure on resolutions.
Furthermore, labour centres and the Federal Government will meet on June 19, 2023, to agree on an implementation framework.
