MAN DG Asks FG to Sell Warri, Port Harcourt, and Kaduna Refineries

Over the recent efforts by the Nigerian government to rehabilitate and put the refineries in the country—Warri, Port Harcourt, and Kaduna—to work since 2024 seem to have failed, pressure is mounting for the refineries to be sold to private investors.

The call for the government to sell or privatize the four refineries was made on a Channel Politics program on Tuesday night by the Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Segun Ajayi-Kadiri, who stated that they are only draining the Nigerian economy.

Ajayi-Kadiri argued that instead of draining resources, the refineries would be better off in the hands of the private sector, which can efficiently manage productivity.

The MAN DG further noted that the government’s continual ownership of the refineries has been unfair to the nation and its people, due to the fact that there are capable hands who can conveniently handle and manage the facilities.
