Niger Delta leaders have come out to plead with President Bola Tinubu to allow residents of the Okuama community who fled their village for fear of the Nigeria Army reprisal attack to return to their homes.
Recall that the Okuama and Okoloba community communal crisis had led to the killing of 16 soldiers.
Weeks after the Nigerian Army attack on Okuama, the community is deserted as the people fear what might follow their return would be more disastrous.
Speaking on the issue, the Otota of Olomu Kingdom, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje sent a message of plea yesterday to President Tinubu and the rumors making rounds about a fresh clash looming between another Ijaw and Urhobo community in Delta state.
Akpomudje said the federal government should give traditional rulers the sole power to control youths to curtail their excesses.
Also stretching an arm of plea to the President, former Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Udom Ekpoudom said if cultism can be dealt with from the grassroots these clashes will be minimal or eradicated.
He pointed to hard drug addiction as a pushing force for these inhuman acts among the younger generation.
