Kidnap: Police Arrest Councillorship candidate  in Ughelli North

Mr. Lucky Isreal Palmer, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Councillorship candidate in Ugono-Orogun, Ughelli North local government area of Delta State has been arrested by a crack team of the Nigerian Police over his alleged involvement in kidnapping activities.

Mr. Isreal Palmer allegedly been forced on the members and leadership of PDP in Orogun Ward 4/8 by Chief Godwin Adode, immediate past LG Chairman of Ughelli North, Mr Elijah Michel Idiovwa, former PDP House of Assembly candidate for Ughelli North Constituency 1,and a few others, was arrested on Friday at PDP leaders’ meeting held at Chief George Oyefia’s country home in Orogun held to ratify his candidacy.

It was gathered that Mr Lucky Isreal Palmer, who has been on the police wanted list for sundry crimes, and has been evading police arrest was trailed to the venue of the meeting by a team of police officers from Abraka division, in collaboration with policemen from Orogun division who stormed the meeting venue apprehending him, a situation that caused the meeting ended abruptly.

Attempts to confirm the arrest from the Police PPRO at the time of filing this report have been unsuccessful, however, a senior police officer with the speaking on the condition of anonymity confirmed the arrest, adding that since the arrest of the suspect, the police have come under tremendous pressure to free him from notable party leaders in Ughelli North.

When contacted, Mr. Elijah Michel Idiovwa, a former PDP House of Assembly candidate Ughelli North confirmed the arrest describing it as a mere internal political crisis within the PDP in Orogun that would be resolved in due time.
