Unclaimed dead bodies lying at the Kenyatta National Hospital in Kenya risked mass burial as families are yet to make claims of their deceased members.

A notice on the official website of the largest hospital in Kenya, says 541 bodies lying in their facility majority of them children, will be buried if after seven days the family refuses to make claims of the bodies.

The hospital said with an injunction from the court the order will be carried since the law of Kenya says no dead body should stay more than 10 days in a public morgue.

A body kept in the morgue that exceeds the time frame will attract extra charges, however, failure to comply with the rules can attract six months in prison.

Most of the names published by the Kenyatta Hospital are children who died last year and a dozen of which are unidentified adults.
